Clara Silverstein

CLARA SILVERSTEIN grew up in Richmond, Virginia and is the author of the memoir WHITE GIRL: A STORY OF SCHOOL DESEGREGATION (University of Georgia Press), and three cookbooks. A former food writer and editor at the Boston Herald, Silverstein has also written articles for Runner’s WorldAmerican Heritage, the Boston Globe, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Her poems have been published in journals including Blackbird and the Paterson Literary Review. She directs the Chautauqua Writers’ Center at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York, and teaches writing workshops in Boston, where she lives. She holds a BA in American Studies from Wesleyan University and an MA in History from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Silverstein’s new book SECRETS IN A HOUSE DIVIDED (Sept 2018) is published by Mercer University Press.
